The angelic voice and passionate songwriting of Contemporary Christian Music's Sara Groves lends weight to a great cause in a benefit concert for Amazing Grace Adoptions and Orphan Care. Along with her talented band and special guest Jane Kelly Williams, Groves will bring her passionate, intelligent songs to a beautiful venue, leaving us both entertained and moved by the little epiphanies and passionate truths that will be both prompted and fleshed out in an evening of story and song.

Many of you know how special a venue Fletcher Opera Hall is  The farthest seat is only 70 feet from the stage.  Thus, it promises to be an intimate seting for Sara's very special music.  I am really excited to offer this very special place to my regular house concert attendees.

In addition, there will be an opportunity to give to a very important local ministry, Amazing Grace Adoptions.  This organization has a needed outreach to unwed birth-mothers and adoptive families domestically as well as to orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda.  While the evening will be mostly music, you will hear a short introduction to this ministry, one also dear to Sara Groves.  A significant portion of your ticket cost and all of your gifts over and above ticket cost will go directly to this ministry.

For you fans of Alathea, the female duo we have had in the house on numerous occasions, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in raleigh will be having them for a free concert on January 22, 2012 at 5:30 p.m.  You do need a reservation, but you can make one by clicking here.

Alathea: Hold the Date!

For fans of Alathea, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Raleigh), will be hosting a concert by the them on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. in their sanctuary. The concert is free, with an offering taken to defray expenses.  While we are not the sponsor of this event, we do encourage you to show up and support and enjoy this great duo.  The church is located at 2723 Clark Ave., Raleigh, NC 27607.

For those of you waiting to make a decision on whether to attend this super concert  --- Sara Groves, Audrey Assad, and Jenny & Tyler --- don't.  Only 10 seats are left for the concert, and I expect them to be gone soon.  This is the only stop on Sara's Reason to Gather tour in the immediate area (Greensboro is next closest), and the only intimate house concert on the entire tour.  So don't miss it!  Click here to purchase tickets now.

One of the things I have enjoyed in the last week or so is listening to the Director's Cut of Sara's new album, Invisible Empires.  This is essentially a track-by-track commentary on the album by Sara and husband Troy.  It's been a preview of the kind of stories we'll likely hear at the concert.  It really provides context for the songs.  For example, find out about a really serious bout with stage fright she experienced. Or about her work with International Justice Mission.  It's all good.

I've also enjoyed viewing some of the great videos that are on-line.  This one moved me, as it might move you, in its summoning up of memories of her early home.

In Concert: Sara Groves w/ Special Guests Audrey Assad and Jenny & Tyler

It's incredible, I know.  We're privileged to have the amazing Sara Groves in concert in our home on Thursday, October 20th.  Not only that, her special guests are Audrey Assad, who some of you may have seen earlier this year, and emerging artists Jenny & Tyler.  It's the only stop in a house on their Reason to Gather Tour!  Check out all the details here.  

I've been entranced by Sara's songs and singing for quite some time, most recently with the authentic music on her Fireflies and Songs album.  And Audrey Assad gave us an amazing concert to a sold out house earlier this year.  And from what I hear of Jenny & Tyler, this duo has a promising future.
